Savoring the last fruits of the garden. I cut down the plants today ahead of our first frost this weekend. Cold is not kind to vegetation.
It’s far more enjoyable to plant and grow than weed and pull, but it is necessary if I want to grow good things in spring.
The same is true for relationships. I tended to that today as well before cold set in from stories and space. It’s hard work to weed out feelings and pride to protect and fight for relationships. Like so much in our culture, we are quick to toss rather than tend. But the best things come from tending, from getting our hands dirty, from staying faithful through all seasons. Those are the fruits I want to produce and savor in my life.
